Henry Schein, Inc. and Henry Schein One announced the availability of custom nightguards through the LinkIt™ digital workflow, a new feature integrated with the Dentrix® platform. The update enables dental practices to automate the process of providing nightguards from the initial intraoral scan to final delivery, without requiring separate software platforms or manual file transfers.
The new workflow is being demonstrated this week at the Henry Schein FastPass lounge during DS World in Las Vegas, Nevada.
LinkIt connects Dentrix with third-party imaging systems and production technologies — including milling and 3D printing — through an open architecture platform. The goal is to reduce time-consuming steps, eliminate errors from repetitive data entry, and give practices more flexibility with their existing equipment.
“The introduction of this comprehensive workflow for nightguards through LinkIt is a significant leap forward in our mission to simplify digital dentistry for our customers,” said Mackenzie Richter, vice president, global commercial digital workflow solutions, Henry Schein, Inc. “We are providing a single, intuitive workflow that not only enhances the patient experience but also allows practices to save time, reduce errors, and improve their bottom line. This is the first of many solutions we plan to enable with our LinkIt platform.”
The new digital process consists of three main steps:
-
Choose an intraoral scanner: According to the company, LinkIt’s open architecture supports most intraoral scanners, including devices from Planmeca, Dentsply Sirona, and Medit.
-
Supercharged imaging: Dentrix automatically connects to the scanner software and syncs the scanned images back to the patient chart.
-
Order with ease: Practices use Dentrix to send the virtual model and place the order, which is uploaded to nightguard.com. From there, the product can be tracked through to delivery.
“For too long, practices have had to make a choice between innovative technology and integration,” said Dr. Ryan Hungate, chief clinical and strategy officer, Henry Schein One. “We’re here to change that. LinkIt isn’t just an open architecture workflow; it’s another step in our commitment to removing friction from the dental practice, from imaging to billing. The nightguard solution provides a truly seamless process built on a foundation of security. This is just the beginning of how we’ll continue to build out this platform, providing practices with the tools they need to succeed on their own terms.”
