DS World 2025, held September 25-27 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, convened thousands of dental professionals for 3 days focused on clinical education, peer exchange, and digital innovation. The event featured more than 65 educational sessions, over 55 speakers, hands-on workshops, and marked the 40th anniversary of the CEREC system—Dentsply Sirona’s longstanding contribution to chairside CAD/CAM dentistry.
This year’s programming emphasized the growing role of integrated, data-driven systems in modern dental practice. Dentsply Sirona’s CEO, Dan Scavilla, joined clinicians including Dr. Michael Skramstad and Dr. Shivi Gupta to explore how Connected Dentistry can support more efficient workflows, clinical collaboration, and improved patient outcomes.
Dr. Mona Patel returned as emcee, drawing on personal experience to reflect on the event’s impact. “The future of dentistry isn’t something that happens to us—it’s something we build, together,” she said. “Being at DS World opened my eyes and opened doors—I came home empowered to create a state-of-the-art digital dental practice.”
The mainstage also included a keynote address by Ellen Latham, founder of Orangetheory Fitness, who discussed leadership and organizational growth. Additional programming included performances by comedian Dana Carvey and musician Sheryl Crow.
Clinical Innovation Spotlight
As part of the CEREC anniversary, several new technologies and updates were presented. Highlights included:
- CEREC workflow on DS Core: Integration with DS Core now enables AI-supported crown, inlay, and onlay design proposals, enhancing accessibility and streamlining restorative workflows.
- CEREC Primemill® Lite: A compact milling unit designed to facilitate single-visit dentistry. The system supports a range of validated materials and aims to expand access to chairside restorations.
- CEREC Cercon® 4D: A new block material combining 1,100 MPa flexural strength with 3D layering for esthetic, minimally invasive restorations.
- ProRoot® Bio Sealer: A bioceramic root canal sealer with enhanced bioactive cement content, supporting rapid periapical healing through hydroxyapatite formation.
- AH Plus® Ribbon®: An updated endodontic sealer featuring improved handling, flow, and adhesion to gutta-percha, contributing to long-term treatment integrity.
- New 3D diagnostic tools on DS Core: AI-based features for analyzing X-ray data from any device, enabling more flexible, cloud-based diagnostic workflows.
In development is CEREC Go, a two-motor milling unit designed for composite and hybrid ceramic restorations. Integrated with DS Core, it supports streamlined digital workflows for restorative procedures.
Focus on Sustainability
The event was planned with attention to environmental impact, aligning with Dentsply Sirona’s “BEYOND” sustainability initiative. Efforts included digital-first communications, collaboration with local vendors, and selection of the Green Globes-certified MGM Grand as the host venue.
DS World will return to Las Vegas from September 24-26, 2026, offering continued opportunities for clinical education, peer engagement, and exploration of emerging technologies in dentistry.
