Forward Science announced a collaboration with Heartland Dental to provide PerioStōm to supported doctors and hygiene providers across more than 1,900 practices in the United States. The companies state the agreement is intended to support periodontal care through early intervention, clinical innovation, and patient outcomes.
PerioStōm is an FDA-cleared, non-drug oral wound dressing composed of chitosan microspheres, a biocompatible polymer. The product is applied directly into the periodontal pocket following procedures such as scaling and root planing. According to the company, it forms a protective, bio-adhesive barrier designed to support gingival healing and patient comfort during recovery. The delivery system is designed to allow clinicians to place the material efficiently and consistently within existing workflows.
